The theme of self-knowledge can be explored and observed in all of the elements of art which is mentioned in the website. By exploring all of these works of art, I learned that self-knowledge comes to one person most of the time when that person goes through tragic events. For example, Elizabeth Bennet from pride and prejudice and the couple from the short story, The Last Night of the World, self-evaluated when they encountered an issue or a tragic event. On the other hand, in the painting, Elisabeth Louise Vigee Le-Brun portrayed herself as a painter in her own painting. This shows her self-knowledge. She knew who she was inside. Last but not the least, the poem by Khilal Gibran encourages his audience to look into ourselves and explains the concept of self-knowledge.
Through exploring all these different types of elements, I learned that Self-Knowledge is really important to a human being because it helps one to evaluate themselves and find out who they really are. I also observed that having this self-knowledge helps people to express themselves more.
